Haidar Abd Al-Shafie died of cancer Sept. 25. In Al-Jazeera internet it said the Israelis had given him permission to be treated in Israel or abroad, but he remembered the days when he was in Jaffa and there had always been good Palestinian doctors. So he stayed with the Palestinian doctors in Gaza. I thought that was very principled of him, and an important statement to make about the essentially, developed development of Palestine long before the Israelis came.
